MATHCOUNTS is for students that love math, enjoy solving challenging problems and want to compete doing so. MATHCOUNTS is Trickum's school math competition team for 6th, 7th and 8th graders working through all areas and levels of mathematics. We meet weekly throughout the school year and compete in local, chapter and state competitions.

Readers Rally

Readers Rally Club meets weekly to read and discuss 10 pre-selected books. Any interested students are welcome to join the club. 10 students will be selected from the club to compete in a quiz-bowl style county competition based on questions from the books. 

Aspiring Authors

The Aspiring Authors club is intended to inspire creative writers through developing authors' techniques and collaborating with local published authors.

Art Club

Art club will focus on creating art using a variety of art media and processes.  No experience necessary, just a love or curiosity for art. All grade levels are welcome.  More information will be available in late September in Monday mail and on the morning announcements.

AV Club

The AV Club works with modern studio software to conduct the morning news show each school day beginning at 8:50am. They are also associated with the Georgia Student Media Festival.

Book Club for Students

Students are invited to participate in monthly book studies focused on a shared reading experience and discussion. The book club will meet before school, with additional opportunities for engagement throughout the year. All students at all reading levels and all interests are welcome to participate.

Campus Thrive

Students meet for a student led opportunity for praise, prayer, and worship in the Christian faith. Campus Thrive is a local organization run by community churches in the area.

Capoeira Angola Dance Club

Capoeira (pronounced cap-wearer) Angola is an Afro-Brazilian martial art form, combining self-defense, acrobatics, dance, music and song. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil who used it to disguise the fact that they were practicing fight moves.

Cookies and Cupcakes Decorating Club

If you are interested in learning the art of cake decorating, please join. The goal of this club will be to learn how to write using icing, make flowers, and how to design different borders to make your baking goods pop.

Dungeons and Dragons Club

Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy role-playing game in which players create characters and embark on adventures. Players can customize their characters' skills as a paladin, a wizard, a cleric, or any of the many other character classes and fight monsters using swords or spells. Imagine creating a character who is an elf, a dwarf, a halfling, or one of many other types of creatures, and then controlling that character as he or she goes on an adventure through the plot of an epic fantasy similar to Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Every action and decision will have its success determined by the roll of the dice, whether you are making a Persuasion Check to convince a king to hire you for a quest or making an Attack Roll to shoot a troll with a bow and arrow. Dungeons and Dragons gives players the same joyful experience as reading a thrilling fantasy book, except YOU get to control one of the characters in the story, while enjoying playing with friends as they each role-play their own characters in the story. Everyone is welcome in D&D club, whether you have no experience or have played for years. If you already have experience playing D&D, talk to the club's sponsors if you are interested in becoming a Dungeon Master who leads a game.

International Club

Trickum International Club is a yearlong club for curious minds who wish to explore cultures from around the world. Our club brings together students from diverse backgrounds to foster global understanding and appreciation. We will do this through monthly meetings and a culminating activity, hosting Trickum International Night. All grade levels are welcome!

Garden Club

The purpose of the Garden Club is to promote the love of gardening, enrich the lives of students, and increase awareness of ecology, botany, outdoor recreation and conservation.  Throughout the school year we will learn how to grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables while helping to beautify Trickum Middle School through nature's landscape.

Girls Who Code

Are you interested in learning more about computer science? The "Girls Who Code" club is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does. "Girls Who Code" is open to all girls in grades 6-8 who are interested in learning more about technology, computers and coding. No computer experience is required. If you are interested in joining this club, fill out the interest survey located on the Trickum Middle School website, under extracurricular activities. This club will meet in person after school this year.

The Honor Guitar Club is open to experienced 6th, 7th and 8th grade Guitar students who would like to perform more challenging music in a Guitar Ensemble setting.  The club meets twice a week and performs at Guitar Concerts and various community functions.

The Swingin' Tigers Jazz Band is made up of 7th and 8th Grade Trickum Band students who want to learn how to play jazz. They rehearse once a week in the spring and perform at Trickum Band Concerts and around the community.

Jr. Beta

Jr. Beta is a service-based organization for 7th and 8th graders that focuses on leadership, community outreach, and academic success. It is the middle school version of National Beta Club. Students will be invited at the beginning of the school year based on their cumulative average from the previous year.

Jr. SAVE/SADD

Jr. SAVE/SADD is an organization that believes that young people, empowered to help each other, are the most effective force in preventing students from making destructive decisions. They desire to decrease the potential for violence in schools and communities by promoting meaningful student involvement, education and service opportunities in efforts to provide safer environments for learning. Jr. SAVE/SADD is associated with the national organizations Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). Jr. SAVE/SADD is also responsible for hosting Red Ribbon Week.

Trickum Latin Club is a space for students of all levels who have an interest in the Latin Language and Culture of the Ancient Romans. Novice Guard

The TMS Novice Guard Club is an extracurricular group designed to learn and have fun with basic color guard skills that align with the skills needed to march with the Marching Panther Band at Parkview High School or other marching band programs. We will have fun with basic dance, flags, and rifle work. All male and female students looking for a great TMS family that transitions well into the high school marching band family should come check us out. The club will be hosted at Trickum.

The Tiger Band is made up of 7th and 8th Grade Trickum Band students with a desire to cheer on Trickum sports. We rehearse leading up to the basketball season and play at home games, pep rallies and other community events.

Trickum Peer Leaders are specially selected students who will help to support Trickum Middle School students and staff while developing their leadership skills. (Application process begins in 7th grade to be selected to serve in 8th grade).

Relay for Life

The Relay for Life student team completes various fundraisers and activities throughout the year. These activities are meant to raise awareness about Cancer as well as raise money for the American Cancer Society so that one day we will live in a cancer free world!

Aerobics

Aerobic exercise is healthy for your cardiovascular system as well as your emotional well-being. We're likely to try a variety of aerobic training, inlcuding: jump roping, brisk walking,  dance, steps, jumping jacks and more. This club welcomes beginners to join. Come to Aerobics Club to get your heart pumping!

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run - Heart & Sole is an after-school program for girls that teaches life skills through exciting lessons and running games. The program culminates with girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to build confidence and give girls a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Intramurals

Intramurals is an extracurricular program offered by Gwinnett County middle schools to students. Trickum offers several options each year from which students may choose. There is no charge for intramurals. Most options meet once per week before school with the focus being on fun and exercise.

Morgan Borysewicz, Quonias Hudson, Kelsey Blesson, Zach Alexander

The volleyball club at Trickum competes against other Gwinnett County middle schools beginning in August.  The players for the competition team are chosen through an evaluation process that takes place prior to the season.

Starting in January, there will be a spring league for rising 6^th and 7^th graders who are interested in developing their volleyball skills and preparing for competition team tryouts. The Spring League will take place before school, once a week.

Along with volleyball skills, these opportunities help prepare players for high school volleyball as well as teaching them skills in teamwork, responsibility and good sportsmanship.
