  • Attention Parents of Students Who Receive Special Education Services:

As a means of improving results for children with disabilities, the Georgia Department of Education is required to survey parents of students receiving special education services.  If you are a parent of a student receiving services in Gwinnett County, you are able to participate in this year's survey process.  This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard.  The feedback you share will help guide local schools' efforts to improve Special Education services and results for children and families.  The survey is available online here and can be accessed on the Georgia Department of Education website.  Survey responses must be submitted by May 31, 2024.

Under state laws passed by the Georgia State Legislature, parents of students who receive special education services or accommodations under a Section 504 Individual Accommodation Plan may request to transfer their child to another public or private school in Georgia.  This applies to any student who receives special education services, grades PK-11th and any returning 12th grader, and students eligible for a Section 504 Plan in grades Kindergarten-11th grade.  More information and applicable forms can be found on the GCPS Department of Special Education and Psychological Services website.
