Gwinnett Health Finder
Gwinnett Health Finder links un/underinsured residents of Gwinnett County to quality, affordable healthcare resources.
Those without health insurance often have less access to care, receive poorer quality of care, and experience worse health outcomes. They delay or go without needed care because of cost. They are less likely to seek preventative care and services for chronic diseases or major health conditions. Hence, their health and well-being are at much greater risk.
Gwinnett Health Finder helps narrow the gap and connect our un/underinsured residents to quality healthcare providers that are ready and willing to care for them so they can live their best lives.
Providers listed on this site accept at least one of these forms of payment as an alternative to private health insurance: Medicare, Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids®, sliding fee scale, or self-pay.
Gwinnett Health Finder is powered by the Gwinnett Coalition as part of their work to address health inequities in our community.

Safe Place
Safe Place
What is Safe Place?
Safe Place is a national youth outreach and prevention program for young people in need of immediate help and safety. Nearly 20,000 community and business locations nationwide display the yellow and black Safe Place sign, making help readily available. Locations include libraries, YMCAs, fire stations, grocery stores, public busses, and social service facilities.
Why do young people need Safe Place?
Young people experience many difficult situations – problems at home, issues at school, trouble with peers, being locked out of the house, riding with an unsafe driver, or being in a dangerous situation on a date.
They also leave home to escape abuse or neglect, drug or alcohol abuse by family members, or because they’re told to leave.
No matter what the reason, young people can go to any designated Safe Place site to get immediate help. Children and teens deserve access to a Safe Place and a chance to work through their problems with the support of caring adults.
How does Safe Place work?
Step One – A young person enters a Safe Place and asks for help (any Quick Trip gas station) or texts the word SAFE and current location (address, city, state) to 69866 or calls 1-800-786-2929 (calls are confidential and available 24/7)
Step Two – If at a Safe Place location, the site employee finds a comfortable place for the youth to wait while they call the licensed Safe Place agency.
Step Three – Within 20-30 minutes or less, a qualified Safe Place volunteer or agency staff member will arrive to talk with the youth and, if necessary, provide transportation to the agency.
Step Four – Once at the agency, counselors meet with the youth and provide support. Agency staff makes sure the youth and their families receive the help and professional services they need.

DACA
DACA - Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
What is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals?
Over the past several years, this Administration has undertaken an unprecedented effort to transform the immigration enforcement system into one that focuses on national security, public safety, border security and the integrity of the immigration system. As the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to focus its enforcement resources on the removal of individuals who pose a danger to national security or a risk to public safety, DHS will exercise prosecutorial discretion as appropriate to ensure that enforcement resources are not expended on low priority cases, such as individuals who came to the United States as children and meet other key guidelines. Individuals who demonstrate that they meet the guidelines below may request consideration of deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) for a period of two years, subject to renewal for a period of two years, and may be eligible for employment authorization.
You may request consideration of DACA if you:
- Were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012;
- Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday;
- Have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007, up to the present time;
- Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;
- Had no lawful status on June 15, 2012, meaning that:
- You never had a lawful immigration status on or before June 15, 2012, or
- Any lawful immigration status or parole that you obtained prior to June 15, 2012, had expired as of June 15, 2012;
- Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States; and
- Have not been convicted of a felony, a significant misdemeanor, three or more other misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.

Providers listed on this site accept at least one of these forms of payment as an alternative to private health insurance:
Medicare, Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids®, sliding fee scale, or self-pay.Gwinnett Health Finder is powered by the Gwinnett Coalition as part of their work to address health inequities in our community.

GCPS Community-Based Mentoring Program
Gwinnett County Public Schools Community-Based Mentoring Program
Studies show that successful mentoring programs help at-risk students develop social skills, improve their school achievement and graduation rates, and help them develop self-esteem, among many benefits.
GCPS has proactively developed a Community-Based Mentoring program to connect caring adults in the community with middle school boys whose poor attendance and behavior are having an adverse impact on their grades and classroom performance.
While school counselors, teachers, and family members all play a role in keeping students in school and learning, the involvement of a community mentor can make a meaningful connection.
If you'd like to find out if your child can be part of the Community-Based Mentoring program, please contact your School Counselor.

- If you are in need of vision care, please contact your local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization including Prevent Blindness America, Lions Club or other social service agency in your community to get help. Or, contact your local LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical or Target Optical to have them assist you with a charitable agency that can sponsor you by verifying you have financial and vision need.

- Certificates (for free vision exams and glasses to low-income, uninsured children of working parents who do not qualify for government assistance) are delivered through a network of community partners who work directly with children. VSP relies on these partners to identify children with potential vision problems and determine if a child meets the eligibility requirements of the Sight for Students program.
- Please review the qualification guidelines on the web site, and then use the web site to find a partner in your area.
