Art Club
Sponsor: Pilar Hernandez
Purpose: A place for students to continue developing their artistic skills, explore new art mediums, and collaborate with other creative individuals to enrich their school and community.
Broadcast Club
Sponsor: Dennis Howell
Purpose: Britt has a fully student-produced morning news show every morning at 8:50 a.m. Three groups of students manage the show for alternating months during the year, and every student in the club has the opportunity to participate either in an on-air anchor or a behind-the-scenes equipment role.
Chorus Club
Sponsor: James Stainback
Purpose: Fourth and Fifth Grade students can participate in the Britt Chorus. Concerts are given in December and May. In 2010, the Britt Chorus also sang at the lighting of the Snellville Christmas Tree, and in 2011 and 2012 they sang the National Anthem prior to the Gwinnett Braves Games!
Comet Captains Peer Leader Club
Sponsor: Natasha Patterson
Purpose: The PEER LEADER program at Britt allows fifth graders to participate in activities that enhance leadership skills and personal responsibility, while also demonstrating respect for self and others. The program not only prepares students for leadership roles in and out of the classroom, but it also provides examples of good character for other Britt students. Britt Peer Leaders will assist in the capacity of technology leaders, new student mentoring, and general faculty and staff assistance. Peer Leaders will also attend monthly leadership sessions with the school counselor.
Flag Helpers Club
Sponsor: Shannon Robertson
Purpose: 5th graders are trained on how to raise and lower the flag correctly with respect to their country and state. Students are taught civic responsibility and respect for situations that require the flag to be lowered to half-staff.
Reader's Rally Club
Sponsor: Dennis Howell
Purpose: Readers' Rally is a reading competition which promotes a love of reading by placing an emphasis on reading comprehension. Britt Elementary sends a team of students to compete against other schools in the Readers' Rally Competition. Both fourth and fifth graders are eligible to join the team.
Robotics Club
Sponsor: Tia Clonts
Purpose: For students to learn how to code and write commands for robots through play. By programming and controlling robots, students will step into the world of science, acquiring knowledge and skills that will be useful and applicable beyond the classroom.
Running Club
Sponsor: Shannon Robertson
Purpose: We partner with the Atlanta Track Club’s Kilometer Kids program to offer a free running club to students to enhance access to quality physical activity experiences. Students will work toward a marathon during the 11-week program, earning incentives at miles 5, 10, 15, 20 and 26.2. A free 1-mile fun run is also offered at Tribble Mill Park.
Student Council Club
Sponsor: Natasha Patterson
Purpose: Britt's Student Council consists of 2 class representatives from each third, fourth and fifth grade homeroom class. The officers are fifth grade students.
Yearbook Club
Sponsor: Charli Sanders
Purpose: To give students an opportunity to foster interests in their school community and to help them learn how to utilize and/or expand skills associated with publishing a school yearbook.
