Student Leadership
The counselors sponsor several activities designed to enhance student leadership skills. Students are selected from 4th grade in March of each year to serve as safety patrols, peer mediators, and to work in the school store. Patrols serve from April of 4th grade to March of 5th grade. Mediators and School Store Volunteers serve throughout their 5th grade year.

Peer Mediators
Peer Mediators work for peace throughout the school. With help from the counselors, they assist students with solving problems. Peer Mediators are the student group for our No Place for Hate program. They participate in comprehensive training during August that helps them understand the nature of conflict and how to work toward peaceful resolutions.

Safety Patrols
Safety Patrols help with safety and order during arrival and dismissal times each day. They know all of the necessary procedures for school arrival, dismissal, and breakfast routines. There is a morning squad and an afternoon squad. The morning patrols report to the counselors daily for a morning activity and then report to post at 7:45 to 8:10. Afternoon patrols serve from 2:40 until 3:15.

School Store Volunteers
These students have one or two mornings assigned to them to serve in the School Store. They report for duty at 7:25 each morning. The School Store sells various school supplies and snacks every morning from 7:45 – 8:05. The student volunteers are responsible for daily store set up, sales, inventory management, and creating the daily financial report. The money earned is used to help our families in need via the Care Team and to support the School Counseling program.
