• Preventing the Summer Slide Videos and Handouts for Families

    We are excited to announce that the Office of Family Engagement in the Department of Federal Programs, in collaboration with the Directors of Teaching and Learning, is providing videos and handouts for all GCPS families in elementary schools to help prevent the summer slide.
    The ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies Directors recorded instructional videos highlighting resources and activities for families to support their children at home over the summer. The videos are posted in the GCPS "Engage Equip Empower"  series website (bottom of the page). Captions are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese.

  • Empowering Conversations:  Let’s Discuss Youth Mental Health and Drug Abuse

    The Department of Federal Programs' Office of Family Engagement in partnership with the Student Services Department invites all families to join an Engage, Equip, Empower Series titled: “Empowering Conversations:  Let’s Discuss Youth Mental Health and Drug Abuse” on May 1, 2024, from 5:30 until 7:00 PM. 

     

    GCPS families will receive powerful information from district and community leaders about the importance of mental health and drug abuse awareness. Families will also learn how they can find help and support for both concerns.

  • Spring Family-School Partnership Advisory Council (PAC)

    The Department of Federal Programs' Office of Family Engagement invites all families to join the “Spring Family-School Partnership Advisory Council (PAC)” meeting on March 28, 2024, from 6:00 until 7:30 PM. 

     

    We are excited to again meet in person with families in the Grayson Room at the Instructional Support Center (ISC). GCPS families will receive information about Multilingual Learners, Early Learning and School Readiness, the Homeless Education Program, Migratory Students, and the Foster Care Program, and have the opportunity to provide input on how these funds are utilized to support students, staff, and schools.

  • Georgia Milestones Assessment Family Night

    The Office of Family Engagement in the Department of Federal Programs invites all families of students in grades 3 – 12 to join the “Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS) Family Night” led by the Executive Director of the Accountability & Assessment Office on February 6th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  

     

    During this family night, GCPS families will receive information about the Georgia Milestones assessment (GMAS), sample questions, and tips to help your child at home.

  • Winter PAC Meeting | AKS Spotlight Night

    The Office of Family Engagement in the Department of Federal Programs invites all families to join the Family-School Partnership Advisory Council (PAC) Meeting on January 23, 2024, from 5:30 until 6:30 PM and the Elementary AKS Spotlight Family Night on January 25, 2024, from 6:00 until 7:30 PM via Zoom.

    During the Family-School Partnership Advisory Council, GCPS families will receive information about the GCPS Family and Community Engagement Plan and will have the opportunity to provide input on the plan.

    During the Elementary AKS Spotlight Family Night, GCPS families of students in grades K-5 will receive information about the curriculum being taught in the classroom and learn strategies and activities to support their children at home.
