Advanced Chorus (4th-5th Grade)

Description:
Students will develop a strong foundation in music through sight singing, Curwen hand signs, solfege, and vocal technique. Our repertoire includes a diverse mix of pop, classical, and world music, often incorporating movement and dance.
Chorus members have the opportunity to perform in winter and spring concerts, as well as other school events. We prepare students for the Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Ensemble auditions and offer opportunities to apply for the GMEA Elementary All State Chorus and the GCPS Elementary Honor Chorus. Additional afternoon rehearsals may be scheduled closer to performance dates.

Description:
This club is designed to further develop recorder playing skills. Students will refine their technique, expand their musical repertoire, and explore advanced recorder playing techniques. Through ensemble playing, students will learn to collaborate and perform together. The club aims to prepare students for recorder solos and ensembles, and to foster a love of music and the recorder.

Description:
This club provides students in 5th grade with an opportunity for creative exploration and artistic expression. Students will be exposed to a variety of art materials. Some of the exciting projects may include clay vases, handmade books, or printmaking. Students should be creative, independent, willing to try and experiment with new things, and most of all love ART!

Description:
This chorus is a fun and engaging introduction to choral music for young singers. Students will develop basic vocal skills, learn to read music, and experience the joy of singing together. Through a variety of songs and musical activities, children will build confidence, teamwork, and a love for music. The chorus performs at school events and concerts, providing opportunities for students to share their musical talents with the school community.

Description:
Students will be in charge of our whole school recycling program. Students will make posters/announcements to encourage and inform the school about our program, collect all recycling, and be courteous and respectful in the halls at all times as they work. Description:
The Theatre Arts play a significant and essential role in ensuring a well-rounded education. Our goal for the drama club is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students to be themselves, to make new friends, to explore new worlds, and to create performative art as an ensemble. Students will learn about the different aspects of theatre, including history, improv, acting techniques, costume design, and more. There will be two performances (one minor performance and a musical in the spring).

The Theatre Arts play a significant and essential role in ensuring a well-rounded education. Our goal for being a part of a stage crew is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students to be themselves, to make new friends, and to explore new worlds! Students will work alongside the Drama Club as stage crew members during our spring performance (may include working with props, lighting, sound, and overseeing technical cues and scenes). This club will teach students how to work as a team, lead others, and become familiar with a theatrical production!

I believe being active is imperative! Kids in Motion (K.I.M.) is ideal for students who are interested in improving their physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills. As a certified National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) instructor for 10 years, participants will have the opportunity to experience a fun-filled, boot-camp style group exercise class designed for all types of fitness levels.

Reader's Rally

Description:
Students will read and discuss books from a county-selected list of 10 books. As part of the club, students will read some very special award-winning books. The goal of this club is to foster the love of reading in students and also to prepare a team of readers to represent Chattahoochee at the county level Quiz Bowl style Rally Competition on February 22nd, 2025. We will use the buzzer system to prepare for this tournament. We will have our team tryouts in January 2025. As per the county guidelines, we can have up to 10 members on our team.

Description:
Become a future engineer and problem-solver in the CES Robotics team! We prepare for the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, a competition focused on real-world problem-solving and robotics engineering. Students will design, build, and program LEGO Spike Prime robots to complete challenging tasks on a game board.
Team members develop critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills while preparing for regional and national tournaments. The team is highly selective, requiring an application and tryout process in March of fourth grade. We welcome applications from new CES fifth graders.
