Woodward Mill Media Center Circulation Policies
Kindergarten and Grade 1: one book/one week
Grades 2-5: two books/two weeks
All students are expected to receive weekly access to the media center for circulation purposes. Students will visit the media center with their class at a scheduled time for book checkout. Students in grades 2-5 can renew their books if needed. Once a book is renewed, the due date will be extended for two more weeks. Students are expected to keep their media accounts current.
Overdue notice reports are generated and distributed to parents via email throughout the year. Student media overdues are accessible on the parent portal and in the Accessit media catalog, which can be found in the eCLASS student portal. Once the catalog opens, students can click their name in the top right-hand corner and then select the option to view their borrowing details.
GCPS policy states that lost or damaged book issues must be resolved before circulation privileges can be restored. The book fine for a lost or damaged elementary media center book is $15.00. If the book is found after the fine has been paid, a refund request will be submitted to the bookkeeper.
Fines are assessed based on the severity of the damage to the book. Most of our issues are caused by water bottles, pets, and younger siblings. Thanks for your support in helping our students learn proper book care. Please contact the media staff if you have any questions about circulation procedures.
